Sunny Suit vs. Sunny Jacket: Which Beekeeping Gear Is Right for You?

Choosing the right beekeeping gear can make a big difference in how comfortable and confident you feel in the apiary. And when it comes to finding protective gear designed specifically for women, the details matter.

At Jeometry Beewear™, we believe women shouldn't have to settle for oversized, uncomfortable, or poorly fitting beekeeping gear. That's why beekeeper and designer Jenna York created the Sunny Suit and, more recently, the Sunny Jacket.

Both are designed by a woman beekeeper to fit women beekeepers. Both are made in North Carolina, USA, from 100% recycled triple-layer honeycomb mesh. And both feature the thoughtful details that make Jeometry Beewear™ different.

So, which one is right for you? Let's break down the differences to help you find your fit.

Meet the Sunny Suit: Full-Body Protection

Our signature Sunny Suit was designed for beekeepers who want full-body coverage in one thoughtfully designed piece.

Whether you're managing multiple colonies, inspecting your backyard hive, or spending long days in the apiary, the Sunny Suit brings together lightweight, breathable materials and practical features to support your work.

What makes the Sunny Suit so special?

Full-body coverage. The integrated jacket and pants provide coverage from your head to your ankles, without needing to coordinate separate pieces.

One-zipper simplicity. Getting dressed for hive time is quick and easy, so you can focus on the bees.

Designed around women's bodies. Thoughtful pleating creates room for feminine curves, while the overall design prioritizes fit and movement.

Storage where you need it. Deep double side pockets on the pants, a front chest phone pocket, and waist loops give you convenient places for essentials and tools.

Details that make a difference. Cinching sleeve cuffs with an optional thumb loop, adjustable pant cuffs, reinforced shoulder fabric, and a back hanging loop make the suit practical for everyday beekeeping.

And, of course, the round Halo Hood veil offers side vision and room inside.

The Sunny Suit is lightweight, machine-washable, and even bleach-friendly, making cleanup after a day in the apiary easier.

The Sunny Suit may be right for you if:

  • You prefer an all-in-one, full-body option.

  • You want your protective jacket and pants integrated into one garment.

  • You spend extended periods working in the apiary.

  • You appreciate having dedicated storage throughout your suit.

Meet the Sunny Jacket: Flexibility With the Same Thoughtful Design

Sometimes, you want the features of the Sunny Suit without wearing a full-body garment. Enter the Sunny Jacket.

The Sunny Jacket brings the same signature design from the waist up, with a thoughtfully constructed lower half that gives you coverage while allowing you to choose your own pants. It's built for women who want a dedicated beekeeping jacket that works with the way they already dress and move in the apiary.

What makes the Sunny Jacket so special?

The same signature fit up top. The Sunny Jacket carries over the Sunny Suit's one-zipper simplicity, Halo Hood veil, chest phone pocket, reinforced shoulders, and bust pleats.

Extra coverage where it counts. Its hip-length design extends longer in the back to help cover you when bending over or squatting.

A cinching bottom hem. Adjust the hem snugly to help keep bees from entering underneath the jacket.

Four generous pockets. Pockets distributed across the sides, front, and back give you convenient storage without getting in your way.

Your choice of bottoms. Pair it with your preferred beekeeping pants or other suitable protective clothing to create the setup that works best for you.

Like the Sunny Suit, the Sunny Jacket is lightweight, machine-washable, and made in North Carolina, USA, from 100% recycled triple-layer honeycomb mesh.

The Sunny Jacket may be right for you if:

  • You prefer a jacket-and-pants combination.

  • You already have beekeeping pants you love.

  • You want extra coverage at the hips and back without a full-body suit.

  • You value convenient pockets and flexibility in how you put together your gear.

Sunny Suit vs. Sunny Jacket: What's the Difference?

Here's a quick side-by-side comparison to help you decide.

Both styles share the thoughtful construction and design details that inspired Jeometry™. The biggest difference comes down to whether you prefer integrated full-body coverage or the flexibility of a separate jacket.

One More Thing…They're Designed for Women, Not Just Sized for Them

The Sunny Suit and Sunny Jacket share more than a color palette. They reflect the reason Jeometry™ exists in the first place. Jenna created the Sunny Suit after hearing women beekeepers talk about the challenges of traditional protective gear that didn't fit their bodies well. She wanted to build something that prioritized women's proportions, comfort, and real-world needs in the apiary.

That philosophy carries through both products, from thoughtful pleating and practical pockets to lightweight recycled mesh and easy-to-use closures, each detail is there for a reason. Because your protective gear should support your work, not distract you from it. And yes, we believe it can be functional, comfortable, and cute, too.

Which One Will You Choose?

Whether you're drawn to the full-body coverage of the Sunny Suit or the flexibility of the Sunny Jacket, you deserve beekeeping gear designed with you in mind.

Our latest batch of 200 Sunny Suits has arrived, and the Sunny Jacket is in production, with delivery anticipated by Halloween. Both feature our signature white fabric, bright yellow trim, and golden yellow zipper. We're also transitioning to a dark charcoal veil screen, with some existing Sunny Suits still available with the previous light gray screen.
